Supporting Student Well-being: Mental Health Services at Timber Creek

At Timber Creek, student well-being and mental health is a top priority. Our Mental Health Assistance Counselor is here to provide caring support and resources for students facing mental health challenges.

Services include:

  • Confidential Counseling – A safe space to talk through personal concerns.

  • Crisis Intervention – Immediate support during times of urgent need.

  • Referrals to Outside Agencies – Connecting students with specialized care when necessary.

Our mission is to promote mental wellness, reduce stigma, and ensure every student has access to the support they deserve. No one has to face challenges alone—help is here.

Supporting Student Well-Being: Mental Health Services

Teenagers face both internal and external challenges that can impact their success in school and beyond. At the Black Horse Pike Regional School District, we are committed to providing every student with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to cope with these challenges and develop a healthy lifestyle.

Our Approach

Through partnerships with community services and agencies, we strive to create a continuum of care that ensures students and families have access to the resources they need. Mental health support and referrals to outside services are central to our mission of promoting overall student well-being.

Mental Health Assistance Counselor (MHAC)

The MHAC is a key part of our Student Assistance Program—a comprehensive school and community effort focused on prevention, intervention, support, and referral services for students at risk for substance use, addictive behaviors, or other mental health concerns.

Our MHAC works directly with students whose mental health challenges are interfering with success in school or daily life. Support may include one-on-one counseling around issues such as:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Depression

  • Self-esteem

  • Anger management

  • Grief and loss

In addition, the MHAC provides classroom lessons on a wide range of mental health topics to help educate students, reduce stigma, and encourage open conversations about wellness.

Accessing Support

The MHAC is available to all students and maintains an open-door policy. Students can request an appointment with Mrs. Ashlea Reese electronically or by visiting the School Counseling Office.

Confidentiality is protected under federal law, except in cases involving:

  • Thoughts or attempts of suicide

  • Physical or sexual abuse/neglect

  • Threats of harm toward others

Along with self-referrals, teachers, administrators, parents, and peers may also refer students who may need support. The first step in this referral process should always be coordinated through the student’s school counselor.
