Class of 2030

Class of 2030, 

I’m Mr. Rivera, and it is my pleasure to welcome you all to Timber Creek! Beginning high school is a huge milestone, and we are all thrilled to welcome you later this summer to begin this journey together. I have already heard so many wonderful things about this class and I cannot wait to dig into this school year with each of you. Many of you are likely excited, nervous, or perhaps both, which is completely normal as you embark on this next chapter. I am just as excited to support you all as this is also my first year at Timber Creek! 

Although new to the Timber Creek community, I have served in various leadership roles across several schools and programs. Most recently, I served as the Vice Principal of an elementary school, and in years past, also helped to found a high school in Camden, NJ. I chose to join the Timber Creek community because of its reputation for extensive student programming, an emphasis on its academic offerings, and a commitment to supporting students in achieving their post-high school goals. I am a strong supporter of student involvement and helping students discover their strengths through meaningful relationships and personal growth. You will see me often in the hallways and classrooms, working closely with your teachers and counselors, helping each of you navigate challenges along the way, and celebrating the successes that are sure to come. 

As incoming 9th graders, you will have the opportunity to discover who you are and which school offerings best fit your interests and goals. At Timber Creek, there is something for every student, and we will work hard to ensure all students feel a strong sense of belonging and inclusion. This year is about challenging yourself, both academically and personally, as well as building friendships and learning how to be involved. Together, you will be encouraged to take risks, celebrate growth, and ask for help when you need it. Our primary goal is to ensure you end the year with more confidence than you had when you started, ready to continue on and tackle 10th grade.

As you enjoy the summer and gear up for your return to school, I challenge each of you to think about the choices you can make that will turn this into a year you will always remember. Engage in opportunities. Join that club. Attend that game. Introduce yourself to someone new. Ask questions. Work hard. Believe in yourself. 

Enjoy the rest of your summer, Class of 2030. I cannot wait to welcome you through our doors and begin an unforgettable freshman year together.
